A quiet place to set everything down for a while

“I arrived frazzled and left feeling renewed, peaceful, and more myself.”

— Louise, 3-day Rest & Restore guest

Guests often come to Rest & Restore when ordinary time off no longer feels enough. They are not looking for entertainment, intensity or a packed retreat schedule — they are looking for a place to set things down.

Quiet natural surroundings

When a normal break is no longer enough

Deep tiredness is not always obvious

Many of our guests are still working, replying, caring, organising and leading when they arrive. They are still the person other people rely on.

On the outside, everything keeps moving. Inside, it can be a different story — many people describe feeling tired but unable to rest, wired but flat, easily overstimulated, or short on patience and simple decisions.

When a normal break sends people back to the same pressure feeling no different, something deeper is often needed. Rest & Restore was created for those who want a deeper pause — not more stimulation, and not another thing to achieve.

More than tiredness

It is not always just tiredness

Deep tiredness is not only the result of working too hard. It can build up through years of responsibility, emotional load, unresolved stress, people-pleasing, perfectionism and over-functioning.

Many people spend years overriding their own signals — one part of them knows it is time to stop, while another still feels responsible for carrying everything.

This is why Rest & Restore works with more than rest alone. The retreat can include nervous-system support, body-based work and restorative therapies. You do not need to know exactly what you need before you enquire — part of the process is helping you understand what kind of support may be most appropriate.

Nervous-system support

What nervous-system support means

After long periods of pressure, the body can become used to operating in overdrive rather than at ease. At Rest & Restore, nervous-system support means creating the conditions for body and mind to settle and feel less under demand.

This may include:

  • A quiet retreat rhythm and reduced stimulation
  • One-to-one support and reflective coaching
  • Gentle breath and meditation practices
  • Body-based awareness and restorative treatments
  • Bioelectric wellbeing therapies where appropriate
  • Nature, stillness and spacious integration time
Restorative, quiet retreat space

The aim is not to force relaxation. It is to support your system to settle gradually, safely and at a pace that respects your current capacity.

Who it’s for

Guests often come to Rest & Restore because…

Life is full, but running on empty

Getting through the day is possible — it just takes more effort than it used to.

Switching off feels impossible

The body is tired, but the mind keeps running.

Everything is a lot

Feeling wired, tense, restless or unable to settle has quietly become the norm.

They are always the responsible one

Being needed, capable and reliable is second nature — and rest can feel unfamiliar.

Deeper patterns are at play

Perfectionism, people-pleasing, over-giving or old habits of pushing through may be part of the picture.

Support without pressure matters

They want to be met gently, without being pushed, analysed or expected to perform.

The approach

How Rest & Restore can support you

Rest & Restore is designed to reduce demand and support your system on several levels.

Rest and retreat

Time away from work, responsibility, noise, decisions and daily pressure.

Nervous-system support

Gentle practices, treatments and one-to-one work to support grounding, regulation and a return to ease.

Body-based support

Somatic awareness, relaxation-based practices, Alexander Technique-informed support and gentle movement where appropriate.

Restorative therapies

Wellbeing treatments and bioelectric approaches where appropriate, offered as part of a wider retreat programme.

Reflective coaching

One-to-one space to explore what has brought you to this point, what you are carrying, and what may need to change.

Integration time

Quiet space between sessions and in the evenings so your body and mind can absorb the work without constant input.

The pathways

How the pathways can be woven together

Rest & Restore is the core pathway for deep rest and restoration. For some guests the retreat is mostly about rest and nourishment; for others, deeper elements can be woven in.

Rest & Restore Pathway

Core pathway. For deep rest, nervous-system support, nourishment and restoration.

Healing Pathway

For guests who want to gently explore the emotional patterns and life experiences that can sit beneath long-term depletion.

Soul Alchemy Coaching

Tomaz’s one-to-one inner coaching process, informed by parts work and Internal Family Systems principles.

These pathways are not rigid boxes. They can be woven together to meet the person who arrives. You do not have to choose the right pathway before enquiring — the enquiry process will help clarify what may be most supportive.

What if I do not know which pathway I need?

You do not need to choose perfectly before enquiring. Many guests simply know that something needs to change and that ordinary time off has not been enough.

During the enquiry process we will help you explore whether Rest & Restore as a simple restorative retreat is most appropriate, or whether your stay would benefit from deeper support. Some guests need quiet, food, sleep and very little processing. Others want space to gently explore longer-standing patterns.

Your enquiry is private, gentle and there is no pressure to book.

What makes it different

Why Rest & Restore is different

A holiday may give you distance. A spa break may give you comfort. A yoga retreat may give you structure. A clinical programme may give you treatment.

Rest & Restore offers something different: a private, supportive, restorative retreat for people who want meaningful rest, nervous-system support and gentle, personal care. It is more than a break, but it is not a medical or psychiatric programme — it sits in the middle: private, personal, restorative and body-aware.

Calm retreat day

A typical day

What your days feel like

Your days are intentionally simple. You do not need to rush from one activity to another, socialise with a group, or fill every hour.

The enquiry process

What happens before you book

The enquiry process is gentle and private.

1

You send an enquiry

You do not need to know exactly what you need. You can simply tell us what has been happening and why you are considering Rest & Restore.

2

We ask a few thoughtful questions

This helps us understand your energy levels, hopes, needs, dietary and access needs, current support and whether deeper work may be relevant.

3

We explore suitability

Rest & Restore is supportive and can include deeper inner work, but it is not suitable for every situation. We will be honest if another form of support would serve you better.

4

We suggest a retreat shape

If it feels like a good fit, we will discuss dates, length of stay, practicalities, investment and which elements of the pathways may be most supportive.

5

You decide

There is no pressure to book. The aim is to help you make a clear and grounded decision.

It may not be suitable if you are looking for:

  • A group retreat or social programme
  • A luxury hotel or spa break
  • A yoga retreat with a full activity schedule
  • Medical or psychiatric treatment
  • 24-hour support or acute crisis care

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who is Rest & Restore for?
Rest & Restore is a private retreat in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, for people who want deep rest, restoration and time away from ongoing pressure and demand. It supports nervous-system settling, and offers the opportunity to look deeper at the repeating patterns that can make life feel like too much.
Is this therapy?
No. Rest & Restore is a private holistic retreat. It is not psychotherapy, medical treatment, psychiatric care or a clinical programme, though it can include supportive, reflective inner work.
What is nervous-system support?
Nervous-system support means helping body and mind feel less under pressure. After long periods of demand, a system can become used to operating in overdrive — this work helps it settle.
Will I have to talk about difficult experiences?
No. You do not have to share anything you are not ready to share. Any deeper inner work stays gentle, optional and led by you, and Rest & Restore is not a therapy retreat.
What if I only want rest and not deeper emotional work?
That is completely fine. Rest & Restore does not require deep emotional processing. For some guests the most supportive retreat is quiet, simple and restful.
What if I do not know which pathway I need?
You do not need to know before enquiring. Many guests simply know they want a deep rest. During the enquiry process we help you explore what may be most supportive.
Is Soul Alchemy the same as IFS therapy?
No. Soul Alchemy is informed by parts work and Internal Family Systems (IFS) principles, but it is not psychotherapy, IFS therapy or a clinical treatment.
Can I come if I am already in therapy?
Yes, in many cases. Some guests are already receiving professional support. We will ask about this during the enquiry process so the retreat can sit alongside it appropriately.
What if I do not have the energy to do much?
That is exactly why the retreat is personalised. Your retreat can be as quiet and simple as you like. You do not need to perform or achieve anything.
What happens in the evenings?
The structured programme finishes each day at dinner time. After dinner, the evening is intentionally private — you may rest, journal, read or sleep.
How long should I stay?
Most guests stay between 4 and 7 nights. A four-night retreat can offer a meaningful pause; a longer stay allows for a deeper and more gradual restoration.
How much does it cost?
Rest & Restore starts from £2,650 GBP for a four-night private programme. The final investment depends on the length and shape of your retreat.
Where in Scotland are you?
Rest & Restore takes place at Awakening Alchemy Retreat Centre in rural Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The nearest airport is Aberdeen; rail travel is available to Aberdeen or Inverurie.
